The following activities will be included in a full day ecotour package
Guided tour to Barabar Caves and Nagarjuni Caves with detailed explanation of history, culture, spiritualism and heritage etc. and a session on meditation in the Caves.
Trek to the Barabar Hilltop to understand the local flora and fauna, visit to the Lord Shiva Temple.
Guided tour to Kowa Dol (9 km away from Barabar) to visit India’s biggest stone statue of Lord Buddha. It is safely kept inside a room. Lord Buddha had trained his disciples at this place while he stayed here. Some stone boulders bearing inscriptions and images, can be of great interest.
Guided tour to Banvaria about 10 km in East to see numerous terracotta figurines and some massive statues of stone, all lying across a private agriculture field, dating back in antiquity.
Guided tour to a local village and interaction with the local communities to understand local culture, cuisine, farming, ways of living etc. and traditional lunch/ snacks with the community, which would include nutritious food made from local cereals, pulses and millets, and beverages made from herbs and forest products.

Wild honey is an unique product of Eco Development Committee which contains honey collected from wild bees in the forests.

Herbal Gulal is a product made from leaves and flowers of variety of plant species naturally grown and traditionally used since generations. The product act as a substitute for harmful chemicals.

The handmade pickle is a nutritious product prepared by Eco-Development Committee members from semi ripen wild ber fruits collected from remote forest locations.

The Bael powder is prepared by forest dependent communities from wild Bel fruits in the forests. The fruits are carefully collected and solar dried as nutrition supplement.

Tilkut is made from Mahuwa flowers and Sesamum traditionally consumed in large quantities as a nutritious food item. Sesamum is cultivated by forest dependent communities in their fields and Mahuwa grows in the forest naturally.

Communities nearby the forest cultivate and collect Sabai, Munj, Khas grasses from the forest and prepare these eco-friendly basket for the multi-purpose use.

The EDC members residing nearby forests cultivate and produce a nutrition food supplement from Sahjan fresh leaves to meet nutritional demand of buyers and consumers.

Smriti Van is a place of remembrance for special people and for their special occasions. This place, managed and maintained by Gaya Forest Division and Bhaik Eco Development Committee, is open to the general public, spiritual and ecotourists to plant trees in the memory of their loved ones and also for special events and occasions in their lives such as childbirth, wedding, death etc. The ecotourists can plant trees in the Smriti Van and pay for its maintenance. A plaque will be placed near the tree to display information on the person, who planted the tree and for whom and other necessary details. The ecotourists may submit their request for planting trees in Smriti Van through this website.

Barabar Hill and adjoining areas provide a unique opportunity for the students and eco-tourists for nature camping and understanding of the nature and its ecosystem services for human well-being. Gaya Forest Division with the assistance of USAID Forest-PLUS 2.0 Program conducts one day and 3-day nature camps for the tourists and students from different educational institutions. These camps are organized through Eco Development Committees, which provides an opportunity for the local communities to enhance their efforts for nature conservation as well as sustainable livelihoods. Each camp can accommodate 30-50 students and in case of eco-tourists the camp can be customized based on the needs of the tourists. The nature camp will give an exposure to the students and ecotourists to local flora, fauna, biodiversity, wetland and traditional water management, heritage and culture, ethnic food and beverages, current efforts for nature conservation etc. The nature camps will create opportunities for the students to connect to the nature and learn from it and also from the interactions with local communities and forest officers. The willing educational institutions and tour operators may contact DFO, Gaya for further information on the nature camps.
Duration of the nature camps: 1 day, 2-day and 3-day (the program schedule for nature camps can be customized based on the requirement of the educational institutions, tour operators and ecotourists.

Group size for nature camps: 20 to 50 pax

Orange-headed Ground Thrush at foot of Barabar Hill is a great surprise. It is a Himalayan bird and is recorded first time in Gaya Division.
